Revisit actual circumstances

Prepare answers for the circumstances you have now, using the quotation provider's wording. A change may involve address, occupation, who uses the car most, other drivers, commuting or business journeys, overnight parking, annual mileage, ownership or modifications.

Quotezone's commercial preparation guide describes several of these information categories. It is a useful pointer to what you may need to prepare, but it is not an exhaustive list of every provider's questions. The actual quotation process and your current policy terms remain the relevant records.

Estimate where an estimate is requested

Annual mileage or value may require a reasonable estimate. Base it on real expected journeys or suitable information, rather than changing it merely to obtain a lower figure. If a job title or use description does not clearly fit, ask how the provider wants the truthful facts described.

For example, taking a different job may change both the occupation answer and the journeys you make. Review each relevant question instead of assuming a new job title alone describes the change. This example does not assess whether a particular business use is covered.

Separate preparing a renewal from a current-policy issue

If a fact changed during the current policy, do not assume that waiting for renewal is the correct response. Read the current policy's notification requirements and contact the provider if unsure. We do not state a universal list of reportable changes or a fixed reporting deadline.

If there is an unresolved incident, claim, point or conviction, prepare the facts privately. Answer the requested history period and exact questions. Do not assume that “no claim made” means an incident is irrelevant, or apply a generic three- or five-year period to every form.

Make uncertainty visible

  • Compare old answers with current vehicle and driving facts.
  • Check changes in location, occupation and actual use.
  • Prepare a reasonable mileage estimate where requested.
  • Find history information for the requested periods.
  • Ask the provider about unclear definitions or notification terms.

Our planner only records Prepared, Need to check or Not yet checked. It does not ask what changed, store your address or send answers to Quotezone. Keep an uncertain item open rather than marking it complete for the sake of the counter.

Specialist use such as paid delivery or hire-and-reward needs its own provider questions. A generic car comparison link does not guarantee that such use can be covered through that service.
